7MESH AND GORE-TEX

WORDS BY
Brian Goldstone

It’s an old story, perhaps a cliché. A group of product users, not satisfied with what they can find on the market, decide they will work to create something better. In our case, the cliché is real. The users are cyclists, the product is apparel, and the result is 7mesh.

We want to add something to the industry, to bring products forward that give consumers new options, new choices, and new performance. Let’s be honest – there are some great cycling apparel products on the market, and some that aren’t so great. If we want to bring something new, if we want to be relevant, it’s up to us to raise the bar. And to do that means leveraging our strengths, focusing on what we know the best, and identifying where we can make a difference. Coming from British Columbia, with varied terrain, wide temperature ranges, and lots and lots of rain, an obvious choice is outerwear.

The 7mesh debut collection includes a strong lineup of outerwear, with a range of options targeting road and mountain riding in various conditions. For this collection we have partnered with W.L. Gore & Associates, and include a selection of textiles showcasing assorted Gore-Tex and Windstopper technologies. These options are designed around us, and the kind of riding we understand. Working hard and pushing personal limits, in conditions that aren’t always perfect – and sometimes are much worse. But each rider is different, and so is each ride – different output levels, different comfort preferences, different weather conditions and terrain. The range of jackets in our collection is designed to provide options to you as a rider, to allow you to find pieces that are best suited for what you do.

All of our products have been engineered from the ground up as new, cycling-specific rider solutions. We developed a unique patterning and articulation system, novel pocket and venting solutions, new manufacturing and component installation methods, and new fit adjustment systems and finishing details. The end result is products that are optimized to be light, durable, and functional, and we hope you find their simple look to be beautiful.

We’ll be providing more detailed information & photos of our products in the coming weeks and months. We hope you like what we’re doing, and we welcome your feedback and input. Work on product for future seasons is well underway, and we will continue to learn and improve, with your help

7MESH INDUSTRIES TO PARTNER WITH W. L. GORE & ASSOCIATES FOR DEBUT COLLECTION

Innovative cycling apparel to incorporate four key Gore technologies

With over 80 years of experience in the technical apparel industry, no one understands better than the 7mesh Industries team that the best performing garments start with the best performing materials. That’s why 7mesh is pleased to announce that it has partnered with W. L. Gore & Associates to offer a wide range of GORE-TEX® and WINDSTOPPER® product technologies in its Spring 2015 line.

7mesh joins the select number of specialist manufacturers licensed to use Gore’s technologies in cycling. Every GORE-TEX® garment is tested to rigorous standards, so a close working relationship between the two companies was integral in developing the 7mesh launch collection.

The 7mesh Spring 2015 collection uses four different Gore technologies including the cycling outerwear debut of GORE-TEX® Pro product, Gore’s most rugged material intended for extended use. The Revelation jackets for men & women are engineered with cycling-specific fit and features that enable high-output road and mountain riding in the widest variety of conditions. 7mesh will also be using GORE-TEX® Active, WINDSTOPPER® Active and WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell materials in their collection.

“Our goal is to become the most respected softgoods company in the cycling industry,” said Tyler Jordan, President of 7mesh. “Gore is the acknowledged leader in waterproof, water resistant, and breathable fabrics and we’re thrilled to partner with them for our launch.”

“It’s almost unheard of for us to license startup companies to use Gore materials,” said Matthias Zaggl of Gore.  “The 7mesh team brings fresh insight into cycling apparel. Their deep understanding of our technologies and track record of excellence and innovation make our partnership a natural choice.”

The complete Spring 2015 7mesh line will be launched at Eurobike and Interbike
